TERRA MADRE SALONE del GUSTO

TERRA MADRE SALONE del GUSTO

We have exciting news! We’ve been selected as USA Delegates to Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2016! We’re going to see how 80% of the rest of the world supplies food void of GMOs and testosterone-driven Big Ag!!

Biannually Slow Food leaders and communities assemble in Turin, Italy to contribute and share in the extraordinary diversity of the global return towards small-scale farming of local ecosystems, and preserving nutritious, regional clean food. Over 5000 farmers and food purists convene to represent the globe’s span of unadulterated seeds, livestock and primitive foods to exchange knowledge and independently share sustainable preservation methods. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Terra Madre, and Salone del Gusto is where farmer Prince Charles addressed the closing 2004 assembly on the social, health and environmental cost of faux, cheap fast food.

Delegates from 150+ countries are selected for their ability to represent a breadth of the world’s food traditions and family farming successes, and the individual’s capacity to preserve biodiversity. Terra Madre, Slow Food USA and our local Slow Food Glades to Coast chapter selected us to be USA Delegates to this epic farming and gastronomy phenomenon! So we’re going to Italy to share our farming knowledge with the world, then come home inspired to make an even more potent impact in our community! To be a Delegate is a special honor since the selection is based on Slow Food leaders recognizing our work over eight years, and that we have exemplified this year’s theme of “Loving the Earth” through our demonstrated commitment to caring for our livestock, our environment and its bounty. We’ll share more with you as we get ready for our September adventure, meantime click on the video below for a taste of the last event.

Super excited to represent our community and the USA,
Svetlana and Marty
