Jerseys roam at-will and graze 24/7/365 (zero confinement) and free-choice on organic alfalfa (nonGMO alfalfa when organic is not available), at milking time. Both herd and milk are truly 100% grass, no grain, no corn, no soy, no cottonseed nor brewer's yeast, nor any; hormones, antibiotics, steroids or GMO’s ever used. Cows innately prefer grazing, digesting and ruminating (chewing cud) grass, which also makes for milk that is; 5x higher in CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), higher vitamins & antioxidants, and balanced healthy EFAs (Omega3 to Omega6).
We do not practice artificial insemination, nor separate calves from their mama and milk once/day instead twice. After milking, the herd rotates immediately onto new pasture instead of the same pasture entered from, in-keeping with our regenerative farming standards. The pasture is never chemical treated but fertilized with the skim milk or whey after churning butter and cheesemaking. We are not certified organic (by choice due to cost) but we do practice beyond organic standards.
Store this raw milk inside the fridge but not the door where it's warmer. Ideal temp is 32° to remain fresh 10+ days. The colder your milk, the longer before it begins to clabber and ripen (fat begins to separate from the protein). Raw Milk will eventually ripen (sour) on its own, and that is how creameries used to culture cheeses. If you transfer your raw milk into glass jars, it will chill colder and prolong the time before it ripens.
Ingredients Raw Milk: Pastured Raw Whole Milk
Come Autumn/Winter, the herd gifts less milk due to shorter pasture grasses reshooting and daylight, and seasonal drops in temperature.
